New Stores Opening
Wardle is open for business!
Thursday 29th November saw the offical launch of our new store in Wardle. During a special welcome evening with pig roast, mulled wine and mince pies - attended by members of the local rural community and Countrywide staff - Guest of Honour, The Mayor of Cheshire East, Councillor George M Walton cut the ribbon (with a pair of garden shears!) officially declaring the new store open for business.
We have had a store in Wardle for some time, however it became apparent a few years ago that we had grown out of the old location and needed to scale up. We are delighted to be staying in the area and to be opening a new store that meets with our customers’ requirements, ensuring greater value through a wider, more comprehensive range of products and services that we can now offer.
As part of his opening speech Steve Collard, Retail Operations Manager, said “We have everything that our customers could want, and in a fantastic new building. I am delighted to see the store finally open and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for all their hard work in making this project a success.”
In a short speech to the assembled crowd, Councillor Walton praised the hard work of local farmers and rural businesses, “It is important that we continue to support the rural economy and understand the vital work carried out by local farmers.”
Store Manager Anna Yates and Deputy Manager Tanya Stone were on hand to meet customers and give guided tours of the new store, “From animal health, feed and bedding to agricultural products, pet food and clothing, it’s all here,” says Tanya, who has been working for Countrywide in Wardle for many years. “We know many of our customers very well and are delighted to welcome them, along with new customers to show off the improvements that have been made.”
The store, with a new look and layout, has been redesigned to specifically meet the needs of the rural community, allowing quick and easy access to fully qualified staff, easier product selection and ensuring key items such as feed and bedding are given greater prominence. A specialist farmer area has also been included, with a trading office and counter for bulk deals. The idea is to further strengthen the links between the various components of our business to better serve our customers.
In-store gun shop is a UK first for Countrywide in Melksham
We’re pleased to announce that we have joined forces with one of the UK’s top gun specialists, Paul Webb, to open an in-store Gun Shop at its Melksham store.
The shop – the first of its kind in the UK - offers an extensive selection of guns, ammunition, clothing, accessories, security and safety equipment. It also provides gun fitting and a gunsmith service, helping owners to keep guns in peak condition.
The store is run by Paul Webb who, highly experienced in every aspect of the sport and industry, worked closely with Countrywide to design and develop the whole concept. Paul, 58, who is a qualified coach for the CPSA (Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) and a trade member of the GTA (Gun Trade Association) and BASC (British Association for Shooting and Conservation), was formerly a soldier in the Parachute Regiment and then a Police Officer.
“The Melksham store provides such a wide range of products and services, all that was really missing was a comprehensive gun shop. Now we have a real ‘one stop shop’ for the complete shooting community - clay pigeon, game shooting, pest control, gamekeepers and farmers – and it is already creating lots of interest.”
As our customers will know, we always take safety very seriously. Together with Paul, we are working closely with the local Police and licensing bodies to ensure that the strictest protocols are followed, guns are an integral part of rural life and we always listen to our customers, so we can provide them with the products and services that they need. We are delighted that, by working with Paul, one of the UK’s leading gun specialists, we can offer not only a good deal better in terms of a fantastic range of guns and accessories but also an in-store expert that customers can talk to for advice in the field.
Muddy boots welcome at the new look Bridgwater store
It’s exciting times at the Bridgwater Countrywide store as we’ve just finished our refit! We’ve invested significantly in the store redevelopment to better meet the requirements of our local rural community’s needs, with a focus on farmers and equestrians in particular.
“Bridgwater is a key area for Countrywide, and the redesigned store demonstrates our commitment to customers in the south west, both through the new services and products on offer and a continued investment in specialist local staff,” comments Steve Collard, Countrywide’s Retail Operations Manager. “The store has been redesigned to meet the needs of our customers, allowing quick and easy access to fully qualified staff, easier product selection and ensuring key items such as feed and bedding are given greater prominence.”
The store, with a new look and layout, now includes an area dedicated exclusively to farmers, an increased range of clothing and footwear and a new Equine World. The new farmer and large external area has been specifically designed for Bridgwater and includes the majority of our agricultural products and a new agri office which will provide a private consultation space for customers to meet via appointment with a variety of qualified Countrywide staff, including pet, animal health and equine specialists in store or agronomists, nutritionists and energy consultants who work primarily with customers on farm.
Customers will also notice our new offer, called ‘Stamping Down Prices' which includes a price reduction on 100’s of product lines throughout the store. As ever this is supported by expert knowledge and a personal, friendly service.
Come down to the store and meet Sarah Trebilcock, store manager, or your local Account Manager Peter Welch.
