Litter and litter trays are an important part of your cat’s daily life, and using a high performance litter helps control odour whilst providing great absorption. Read more
There are several types of clumping and non-clumping available, each having unique benefits from being eco-friendly to being safe for kittens or cats who try to eat litter.
Clumping varieties tend to be more economical as the soiled litter clumps, meaning only used litter is scooped out. The clumps need to be removed daily but the litter tends to last longer as there is less waste.
Non-clumping litters are highly absorbent and low maintenance as the soiled litter remains in the tray – only solid waste is removed. The litter is then completely changed regularly – the tray doesn’t require being filled as deeply as with clumping litter, so less is used each time.
Remember you should have a litter tray for each cat plus one, so if you have two cats you should have three trays, and even cats who enjoy being outdoors should still have a litter tray. Trays should be replaced at least every year to avoid bacteria building up.
